Congratulations to Academic Decathlon on their historic state championship win!
Also making history, 2 students won 1st place in their divisions by beating out all 35 of their opponents.
Caitlyn Wylie took 1st place overall in the Honors Division.
Asher Beermann took 1st place overall in the Scholastic Division.
Asher also made history as the first Union student to ever win a medal in all 10 decathlon areas!!
Caitlyn also had a perfect score on her speech!
Honors Alternates Division:
Sadie Hennings took 1st overall
Haven Ellsworth took 2nd overall
Madelyn Zak took 3rd overall
Nearly everyone on the team brought home hardware. A truly amazing showing!

We now move on to compete in Nationals in April.
We are still looking for new students to add next year. Nationals next year are in Texas so see Mrs. Michael or one of the current students with questions or how to get involved!
A HUGE SHOUT OUT to the UHS Jazz Band I for placing 1st at the district competition on Saturday!!! Joe Bistline was also named Outstanding Soloist in Class 2A!! The band will now be competing at the Iowa Jazz Championships on April 5th!! Here is the list of students in Jazz I:

A La Porte City family is looking for a babysitter this summer 3 days a week (flexible days) for their 5 and 7 year olds but the student must have a driver’s license and own car (live in the country), be female, and experience with kids.
