WINTER CHEER SIGN UP: There is now a cheer sign up for winter sports in the office.

The La Porte City Lions Club is looking for volunteers to help at their upcoming breakfast fundraiser. This will be at the La Porte City American Legion from 8-12 on Saturday, December 6. Please contact Shawn Mehlert at 319-342-3121 or email at smehlert@gmail.com if you’d like to volunteer.

Northwest Iowa Community College will be visiting UHS on Wednesday, December 3rd at 2 PM (middle of 7th hour). NWICC is located in Sheldon, Iowa and is known for their programs in Powerline Technology, Heavy Equipment and Diesel Technology, Welding, Engineering Design, Radiologic Technology, Nursing and more. This visit is open to sophomores through seniors. You must sign up on this Google Form in advance to attend.

Mrs. Wittenburg’s Health II class wants to encourage students to express gratitude EVERYDAY! Every day the climate and culture of our school is affected directly by you and the way we treat others in OUR building. Help make someone’s day better and brighter! Check out the Gratitude Board by the Media Center to see how YOU can express gratitude throughout the building and holiday seasons. If you observe someone else expressing gratitude, we encourage you to drop their name and what they did in the box on the Gratitude Board. Each week, there will be prizes and special recognitions! We hope to see MANY ACTS OF GRATITUDE throughout the building! You may consider putting your own name for nominating others, as well. THANK YOU in advance for making our school a great place to be! Are you 16 years old or older and want to help save lives? Consider donating blood at the upcoming American Red Cross Blood Drive next Friday (11/21)! There are still appointments available at 9:45am, 10:15am, 10:45am, and 12:30pm. Email Mrs. Kriz to sign up. Students that are 16 will need to pick up a donation permission form. All donors will score a classic pair of Red Cross x PAC-MAN socks. You’ll also get a custom Red Cross x PAC-MAN GASHAPON when you come to give blood during the same timeframe.

NHS is also looking for males who have donated blood before to donate Power Red. This donation is where a donor provides two units of red blood cells only. The red blood cells are collected, and the plasma and platelets are returned to the donor. Oftentimes, donors feel better after donation. If you’d like to sign up for this donation, the following times are available: 9, 9:30, 10, 10:30 and 11 AM.
