Are you looking for an opportunity to grow your leadership and communication skills? Serve your community? The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa is looking for incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors to join their Teen Trust program. Teen Trust is a model for youth philanthropy. A diverse group of students from area high schools has $15,000 to grant to 501(c)(3) nonprofit agencies serving Black Hawk County. Using a grant application system, site visits, and training seminars, the Trustees work as a team to decide which organizations to assist through financial aid and volunteerism. The program began in 1994 and is led by a student director, a local college student who organizes and guides the students’ activities. Students from UHS have been part of this program in the past and speak very highly about the people, activities and skills they’ve learned along the way. You can learn more from their website here. And you can apply HERE. Applications are due by April 28.
