GOOD LUCK tonight to the volleyball teams who are headed to Jesup to take on the J-Hawks!! It’s Breast Cancer Awareness night at the game and we were asked to encourage our fans, players, coaches and managers to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

GOOD LUCK to the girls swim team who is headed to CR Washington tonight for a meet!!

Wednesday evening (tomorrow night) there will be an Iowa High School Speech Association Judges Certification clinic at UHS in the Media Center at 7 p.m. Cost is $10 to become certified to earn up to $110 on competition days. Any adult or former speech student is encouraged to attend. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The Student Council will be hosting a kickball tournament during the afternoon fun day next Friday. Sign-up sheets can be found outside of Mrs. Deitrick’s room. Sign up sheets are due on Wednesday by 3:08.

There are now HOMECOMING GUEST FORMS in the office. If you plan on bring a guest from another school OR who has graduated, you will need one of these forms. They are due back to the office by Wednesday, September 20th and need to have parents signatures AND the signature of the guest’s school administrator.

THIS WEEK IS HOMECOMING!! Here are the 2023 Homecoming spirit days:
Wednesday, September 20: Barbie/Ken Day
Thursday, September 21: Rhyme without Reason – Pick a friend(s) and dress up in something that rhymes. Example: Teacher and a preacher.
Friday, September 22: Spirit Day

HOMECOMING DANCE INFO:
WHERE: Union High School – Upper gym
WHEN: Saturday, September 23rd 8-11 PM (No entry after 9 p.m.)
COST: $5 at the door
EXTRA DETAILS: Reminder that if you have detention hours to serve (Mr. Bruns emailed you if you have hours to serve) they need to be completed or you are not allowed to attend the dance.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: School photo day is Wednesday, September 27th. You should have gotten an order form in advisory but if you need one, there are extras in the office and the media center.

PENNY WARS ARE BACK THIS WEEK! The advisory with the most points wins donuts and every advisory that raises at least $100 gets to throw a pie in the face of Mr. Caloud or Mr. Toenges at the pep assembly. So bring your cash and coins!! It all will go to the U of I hospital ALS research.

If you are interested in purchasing a UNION yard sign or window decals, please stop by the office to pick up an order form. It is an after prom fundraiser and orders are due Friday, September 22nd.

Lunch today: Soft shell taco (choice: hamburger on a bun) corn, refried beans, mandarin oranges, and the fruit/vegetable bar and milk OR grab and go chef salad meal or uncrustrable meal.
