The Union Academic Decathlon Team took 1st place at the regional and super quiz competition last week at Grundy Center High School and has officially qualified for the state competition in Johnston, Iowa on March 3rd and 4th. In fact, they outscored every other small school in all regionals !! This was particularly impressive as we have several brand new students competing. Congrats to you all!!! MANDATORY GIRLS TRACK MEETING: There is a mandatory girls track meeting during WIN on Monday, February 6. Any girls planning to go out must attend. Please select Mr. Parson for WIN that day for the meeting.

Juniors and seniors eligible for National Honor Society induction need to turn in their Service requirement by Wednesday, February 1 at 3:30 pm to Mrs. Kriz (office or mailbox). No digital copies can be shared.

Seniors that have applied to Hawkeye Community College should complete their scholarship application by Wednesday, February 1 to be considered for additional scholarships (highly recommend!!!). Juniors: There will be a free virtual presentation for you/parents “How to Pay for College – Understanding the Financial Aid Process” on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 5:30-6:30 pm. UNI is hosting their annual Young Women in Leadership Conference March 9, 2023. This is for grades 9-12. The events of the day will look at strong leadership skills which are crucial to school and business in life. We are looking for at least 12-15 students who would be interested in attending. Its time to nominate that special teacher in your life for the 2023 Gold Star Award for Outstanding Teaching! Nomination forms are in the office and the Media Center. Please have your nominations in by Monday February 20th. This is a fantastic way to show a teacher your appreciation for going above and beyond and making a difference!
