A BIG CONGRATS TO ELLIE RATHE for being named Athlete of the Week by the Des Moines Register!!!! Ellie asked that I add this to the announcements today, “Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for me last week. I feel lucky to go to a school that gives me so much support, and that is a big part of why I feel motivated to represent Union well!”

GOOD LUCK tonight to the volleyball team as they host the first round of Regionals here at UHS!!! They will be up against Vinton-Shellsburg at 7:00 p.m. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE TICKETS PURCHASED ONLINE BEFORE COMING TO THE GAME. If you do not have the Varsity Bound app, you can go to the App Store or Google Play to download it and get tickets. Ask Mr. Bruns if you have ticket questions.

GOOD LUCK to the JV football team as they take on Hudson here at UHS tonight starting at 5 p.m.!!!

Garrison’s Haunted opens 10/22-10/23 & 10/29-30th from 7-11 pm nightly. $10 admission. Indoor waiting & 25+ rooms of scares!! This is a fundraiser for Garrison Fire Department.

There is now a wrestling sign up in the office for those interested in wrestling in the 2021-2022 season.

Boys basketball: You should have received an email with a google form to sign up for boys basketball. If you are interested in playing this season and did not get the google form, please see Mr. Bruns or the office.

Boys interested in going out for the Swim Team: There will be a meeting at Central Pool on October 22nd at 5:30. If you have questions, stop by the office.

Seniors, we are in need of your senior and baby pictures for the yearbook. Please send to Mrs. Warren or bring in to Lab 1.

Wednesday during lunch will be the sign up to donate blood! NHS is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive Friday, November 5 from 8-12 in the band room. You must be 16 years or older to donate. Why should you donate? Almost everyone during their life will know someone who needs a blood transfusion. There is no substitute and still only one source of blood for transfusion – volunteer blood donors. Save a life and feel good!

There will be a MVP mentor meeting next Wednesday during WIN. Mrs. Kriz will select you. Let her know if you need to go somewhere else. If you can’t attend, please see Mrs. Kriz to pick up a field trip form for 10/27.

Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors: The University of Minnesota – Twin Cities is joining us virtually during WIN Tuesday, November 2. If you’d like to learn more about their university, sign up to attend the session. Go to your Canvas Calendar. Click on “Find Appointments.” Make sure UHS 2021-22 is selected. Find and click on the visit info on the calendar. Click “Reserve” to submit your name. Mrs. Kriz will select you for WIN that day.
