Congrats to the Union High School speech team on their performance at the State Speech Contest last night. All seven groups earned overall Division 1 ratings meaning 2 out of the 3 judges rated each performance as the top.

Earning Division 1 from all three judges were:
Musical Theatre entry “Scrubs”
Musical Theatre entry “Chicago”
Musical Theatre entry “How To Succeed in Musical Theatre Without Really Trying
Short Film “Growing Then Gone”
Ensemble Acting “19 Reasons”

Earning a Division I from 2 judges and a Division 2 from 1 judge were:
Group Improv
Ensemble Acting “This Dream”

Girls interested in softball: All high school girls were sent an email yesterday regarding softball. If you are interested in softball this summer, please take a minute to fill out the form to sign up. If you did not receive the email or can’t find it, stop by the office and we can resend the form to you.

There is now a BOYS TENNIS sign up in the office.

There is a GIRLS TENNIS sign up in the office.

“Career Focused Fridays” are a new WIN activity that starts up next Friday! Available to all grades, you can join Mrs. Kriz in the board room to listen to career-focused panels and learn more about the fields and what you can do in high school to better prepare yourself. Sign up to attend through the Canvas Calendar (click on Find Appointments, then click and “Reserve” on the activity date). You can also select her for WIN that day. Check out the upcoming topics:

Seniors – if you want to be considered as the UHS nomination for the Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Scholarship, please submit the required forms by Friday to Mrs. Kriz.

Seniors attending ISU and from the D-G area: don’t forget to submit your Wayne & Neva Leo Scholarship by this Friday (2/12). This is a local $2,000 scholarship!

Juniors: join Mrs. Kriz for a virtual presentation about How to Pay for College – Understanding the Financial Aid Process on Tuesday, February 23 from 5:30-6:30 pm. A link will be shared closer to the event. Handouts should be picked up prior to the event. Information was emailed to both you and parents.

Sophomores & Juniors: There is an ICR Future Virtual Career and College Fair being held Sunday, March 28 from 1-3 pm online. Start planning for life after high school by visiting with more than 100 exhibitors representing colleges from across the country, ‘Earn As You Learn’ apprenticeship programs, military programs, and career planning experts in one afternoon. Get registered for the fair at www.icansucceed.org/icrfuture-student and get an entrance link to the virtual fair platform. You’ll attend the fair at www.icansucceed.org/icrfuture from 1 to 3 p.m. Ask Mrs. Kriz for more information. **Please note some booths will use Zoom. Zoom cannot be used on your Chromebooks so a personal device (phone, tablet, computer) is recommended.

It’s that time of year again!! If you have a teacher that is special to you or who has made a difference in your life, nominate him/her for the Gold Star Award for Outstanding teaching!! Nomination forms are in the media center and the office and are due by February 20th.
