Good luck to the Boys soccer team tomorrow as they take on Dubuque Hempstead in the state soccer tournament!!!

Good luck to the Girls soccer team as they begin their quest for the state soccer tournament by playing Benton Community tonight at 6 pm HERE AT UHS!!!!

Next year’s Academic Decathlon students will meet in English WIN on Wednesday this week. Please select Mrs. Michael for WIN TODAY if you are planning to be in the class, or might want to compete even if not in the class.

There will be a meeting in the Upper Gym on Friday during WIN time for anyone who is interested in the Fall Play or LG Group Speech for next year. If you are interested, please request Mr. Bostian or Miss Leytem for WIN time on Friday, May 31. However, if another teacher chooses you for WIN time, you must go there first.

GIRLS SWIM TEAM: If you are interested in joining the girls swim team for the 2019 season please attend a meeting being held FRIDAY May 31st at 7:50 a.m. in the library.

Come join FRC robotics team 6630 FUN for a recruitment night and ice cream bar on May 30th from 5pm-6pm in the high school shop! We will be showing you the world of FRC robotics, and you will get a hands-on experience like soldering circuits, machining parts, making promotional materials, and even driving the robot! We are all about having FUN, and we welcome ALL of you to attend!

Are you looking to grow your leadership skills? How about your communication skills and/or looking to make a difference in our school culture? BECOME A MVP MENTOR! We are looking for current sophomores and juniors to join Mentors in Violence Prevention for the 2019-20 school year! If interested, pick up an application in the main office this week – they are due to Mrs. Kriz by May 31st. You can also ask current mentors about their experience or Mrs. Zondo or Mrs. Kriz about the expectations. We can’t wait to have you join us!

If you are interested in FTC Robotics next year please stop by the office, get a form filled out and return it to the office.

The La Porte City Festival of Trails 5k Run / Walk is Saturday, June 15. This will be the second year we have used funds raised to award a scholarship to a student or students continuing their education in the field of teaching. Last year we had two students receive a $500 scholarship. This year we will be awarding one $1000 scholarship. We have been fortunate the last two years to do this, but the committee has a vision to award a $5000 scholarship in the future. As we continue to work toward that goal, I want to remind/inform you that the 5k takes place for 3 teachers that lost their lives while tenured. I have provided a link to read on behalf of those three teachers that committed to the Union Community District.

Festival’s 5K Pays Tribute to Three Special Educators


This race is very near and dear to our hearts as Peggy McIntosh is Mr. Parson’s wife’s mother. We hope you will take the time to consider joining us on this date as we celebrate the lives of three wonderful teachers gone too soon. If you cannot make it, I thankfully ask that you help spread the word if at all possible.
