Wednesday, May 15th 2019 Red day #5

Boys golfers who did not attend the banquet last night need to stop by Mr. Slater’s room today to pick up your certificates and golf balls.

From 3:10-3:30 pm on Friday, May 17th, Union Spectrum will be hosting an event in Ms. Zondo’s room where you can come and tell your story whether that be your coming out story or anything relating to the LGBTQ community. All are welcome!

Boys wanting to go out for swimming in the 2019-2020 school year please stop by the office and sign up.

Mount Auburn Post is looking for a Junior that would be interested in going to Boys State from June 9-14th. It is at Camp Dodge in Johnston, IA. It is a very good experience for any boys that are interested in Politics and figuring out what they would like to do as a career. They can also put it towards college credits and looks great on a resume that you attended. Please stop by the office and let me know if you are interested and I will have someone contact you.

Students the last day for yearbook sales will be May 20th, so get your yearbook purchased in the office or online through Jostensyearbook.com

WITHAM AUTO is looking for someone to wash cars and transfer cars between our locations. After school to 7 on Monday and Thursday and after school to 6 on Tuesday Wednesday and Friday. Saturday from 9-4. Must be 18, have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record. Call Jim at 319-342-2681 or stop at the store to apply.

The La Porte City Festival of Trails 5k Run / Walk is Saturday, June 15. This will be the second year we have used funds raised to award a scholarship to a student or students continuing their education in the field of teaching. Last year we had two students receive a $500 scholarship. This year we will be awarding one $1000 scholarship. We have been fortunate the last two years to do this, but the committee has a vision to award a $5000 scholarship in the future. As we continue to work toward that goal, I want to remind/inform you that the 5k takes place for 3 teachers that lost their lives while tenured. I have provided a link to read on behalf of those three teachers that committed to the Union Community District.

Festival’s 5K Pays Tribute to Three Special Educators

This race is very near and dear to our hearts as Peggy McIntosh is Mr. Parson’s wife’s mother. We hope you will take the time to consider joining us on this date as we celebrate the lives of three wonderful teachers gone too soon. If you cannot make it, I thankfully ask that you help spread the word if at all possible.
The registration form is in the following link or you can stop by the office and pick up a hard copy. Please let Mr. Parson know if you have any questions.
