Student Food Drive Reminders/Clarification:
By THIS FRIDAY – bring in CANNED MEAT (tuna, chicken, Spam, etc) for 3X POINTS
By November 2 – bring in MAC ‘N CHEESE (boxes preferred, not individual servings) and GRANOLA BARS for 3X POINTS
By November 9 – bring in ANYTHING for 2X points
Items always worth more points =
• Nut butters (peanut, almond, hazelnut) = 5 POINTS
• Money = 4 POINTS
If you have other items not listed above, you can still bring it in for the food drive and be given 1 point for each (i.e. canned vegetables, soup, etc.).
** There was a handful of students that brought in canned fruit after advisory Tuesday. You were credited for double points.
The Student Food Drive official ends Monday, November 12. NHS will be taking the donations to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank during the day. Please bring any non-perishables and/or money to your advisor by advisory on November 9th!
Kirkwood Community College will be visiting UHS on Monday. Please submit your name by TOMORROW if you’d like to visit with the representative.
The Original La’ James College in Mason City is visiting UHS on Tuesday. Please submit your name through the Google Form if you’d like to meet with them.
The University of Northern Iowa will be here Wednesday morning. Please submit your name through the Google Form if you’d like to meet with them.
Iowa Central Community College will be here Wednesday during WIN. Please submit your name if you’d like to meet with them.
Mrs. Kriz is hosting an informational meeting for juniors and seniors about NCAA and NAIA academic requirements to be a student athlete at the college level next Thursday from 6-7 pm (during conferences). If planning to attend, please let her know so she can complete an academic worksheet for you prior to the meeting. This is a great opportunity for both parents and students to attend if considering athletics at the college level!
Wednesday, October 24 during WIN we will have a Large Group speech meeting in Miss Leytem’s room. Please bring your Chromebook to complete a form for which events you are interested in and your schedule availability for rehearsals. IF YOU ARE SELECTED BY A TEACHER FOR WIN, YOU MUST ATTEND WIN FIRST.
Fall Play practice for this week is as follows:
TODAY: Alice In Wonderland at 6 p.m. and Wizard of Oz at 7:30 p.m. NO SCRIPTS!
All stage workers, actors, and actresses in the Fall Play must help with set construction. We will be having set construction TODAY from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please wear old clothes and shoes, as we will be pulling props and costumes, painting, pulling carts from storage, and building. If you have practice for sports or other extra-curriculars, you are excused. Otherwise, you are expected to be at set building.
There is now open pool at West from 3:00-4:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays for those going out for the boys swim team this year. If you have questions, you can email Coach Haley.
There will be a BOYS SOCCER MEETING Tuesday, November 6th at 7:30 a.m. in the aud.
PHOTO RETAKES: School photo retakes are scheduled for Tuesday, October 23rd from 10:30-11:30 at the high school. There are order forms and information in both the media center and the office. If you are doing retakes, please don’t forget to bring the original photos to return to the photographer.
