Superintendent

Dear Knights:

Greetings from the Union Community School District! It is my pleasure to write this brief correspondence as the superintendent. As I begin my 4th year with the district, I want each of you to know how honored I am to continue to lead and serve the district.

The points of pride for our district are well-documented. Our academic environments, no matter the building, are safe, positive and purposeful. Our students excel everyday in the classroom and in both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Our parents/guardians are committed to being strong partners with the district in educating their children. Our alumni take pride in the superior education they received and continually make a tremendous impact on this and other communities. Our facilities have greatly improved and may get a tremendous upgrade pending a bond referendum in November. Finally, and maybe most importantly, we are all Knights!

As we look ahead to the 2025-2026 school year, I am filled with optimism and enthusiasm for what lies ahead for our district. Our dedicated staff, supportive families, and engaged students continue to build on a tradition of excellence, and together we are setting the stage for another successful year. We will undoubtedly continue our focus on academic achievement, student well-being, and innovative learning. In essence, we are committed to creating an environment where every learner can grow, thrive, and reach their full potential. We remain dedicated to upholding the values of care, commitment, and continuous improvement that define our schools. Thank you for your continued support and trust in our vision to provide “Education to Meet Tomorrow’s Challenges”.  Go Knights!

John Howard, Superintendent
