District

Spanning 256 square miles, Union Community School District serves the communities of La Porte City and Dysart. Located just south of the Cedar Valley (Waterloo and Cedar Falls), allows for a small school atmosphere with multiple opportunities for students, but has access to the amenities of a larger urban area.

The Union Community School District has four attendance centers.

  • Dysart-Geneseo (DG) and La Porte City (LPC) each have a PS-5 elementary building. Class sizes in the elementary range from 15-22 students.
  • Union Middle School is located in Dysart and serves grades 6-8. Academic class sizes are similar to the high school, ranging from 16-20 students.
  • Union High School is a 9-12 grade building located in La Porte City with an academic class size average of 18-22 depending on the course.
