La Porte City & Dysart Joint Fire Training Held

On Monday evening, July 19, the fire departments from La Porte City and Dysart, had the unique opportunity to be able to practice their emergency training with a school bus. Several hands-on scenarios were played out offering invaluable experience for our firefighters in the event of a school bus emergency.

The bus was donated to the departments by Union Community School District. The bus is being replaced with one purchased using VW grant money. One of the requirements of the grant funds is that the bus must be destroyed.

The District felt, by donating the bus to the fire departments, they could practice many skills that would be needed in the event of a real-life bus accident.
