Product/Company Investigation Project
Project Objectives
1) To search the Internet or media resources to investigate the origin of a product/company of your choice.
2) To determine what makes this product/company a success or a failure.
3) To show the product share of this product compared to similar products/companies.
4) After learning about this product, embellish it to see what could be expanded, improved on, or redesigned (what can be expanded in the product line, improved on by the company, or redesign the look of the company and WHY?).
Project Requirements
1) You are to pick one product(company) from your knowledge that you think would be interesting to you. Please give a list of five you plan to search to your instructor(s) and then schedule a meeting with one of the instructors about your choices prior to searching.
2) Investigate its background to determine the factors that lead to its success or decline in interest. Include the history of the product(company) as well as the market share (market share of product lines).
3) After learning about this product (company), embellish it to see what could be expanded, improved on, or redesigned.(company: make a judgment as to a new product it could add to its product line and why)
4) Determine the best way to present this information: written report, Powerpoint presentation, brochure, hyperstudio presentation, other discussed with teachers.
5) Make sure to document your resources especially from Internet.
6) Due date: end of third quarter.
7) Assessment: depends on presentation style used. Criteria will be given for each type before assigned.
Project Instructions
1) Use Internet to find information about a product.
Examples would be Pepsi products from Pepsico, Inc. or watch manufacturer, Timex or
denim jean manufacturer, Levi Strauss or
popular toys, Beanie Babies
2) Mrs. Slessor or Mrs. Callahan will provide some work time in class but don't count on it.
Evaluation Criteria
1) Meeting deadlines.
2) Following criteria of presentation style.
