Alcohol Issues Project


Project Objective(s)

1) To become knowledgable about the effects of alcohol on the human body system.
Project Requirements
1) Written report (ink on loose leaf paper or typed)--due when oral report is given.
2) Oral report.
3) Use a Visual aid (pictures, posters, graphs) with your oral presentation.

Project Instructions
1) You may work individually or in pairs.
2) You must use at least 2 different sources of information.

Evaluation Criteria
1) Assessment based on written report, oral presentation, visual and in-class work.

  • Advertising and Alcohol (Canada)--Should the advertising of any type of alcoholic beverage be permitted in the broadcast media? Should there be special, more strict controls over spirits as opposed to beer or wine?
  • Alcohol Fact Sheets--Web of Addiction fact sheets covering most alcohol topics and useful for other substance abuse as well (drugs, tobacco, etc).
  • Impaired Driver Problem--Presents statistical data and financial costs of driving while intoxicated in the U.S.
  • Impaired Driving--Summarizes some of the key concepts in the DUI issue.
  • Indiana University Alcohol Resources--Extensive and informative list of links dealing with substance abuse, alcohol use, drinking and driving with a special emphasis on college alcohol use.
  • Intoximeter Net Sites --Contains Drug/Alcohol Community Action, Prevention, Policies, Recovery, Use, Laws, Criminal Justice, etc. Very useful--little slow to load.
  • MADD Homepage--Mothers Against Drunk Driving-- Our focus is to look for effective solutions to the drunk driving and underage drinking problems, while supporting those who have already experienced the pain of these senseless crimes.
  • National Clearinghouse on Alcohol and Drug Abuse--Many useful "fact sheets" on alcohol use in America.
  • On-Line AA Resources--A collection of Alcoholics Anonymous information.
