Quality Preschool, Tuition Free!

We are pleased to announce that starting in the fall of 2015, qualified four-year old students will be able to attend preschool tuition-free!

The Union Community School District recently learned that its application for inclusion in the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program has been accepted.   Aside from a materials fee which will be charged at registration, this program will now allow all 4-year old students regardless of family income to attend Union’s preschools tuition-free.  Eligible students must be four years old on or before September 15, 2015. As in previous years, 4-year-old classes will be held three days per week.

This program is being made possible through continued cooperation with Raggedy Ann & Andy Preschool, sponsored by the Dysart Women’s Club.  The program provides a state-certified teacher trained in early childhood education, and offers the state-required 10 hours of quality preschool instruction per week.  The program uses the Creative Curriculum, a research and evidence based comprehensive curriculum. It addresses all areas of early learning: language and literacy, math, science, physical skills and social skills. It provides children an opportunity to learn in a variety of ways – through play, problem solving, movement, art, music, drawing and writing, listening and storytelling.

The preschool also offers classes for 3-year old students.  Tuition assistance may be available for 3-year old preschool.  Parents desiring financial assistance for three-year-old preschool should contact the preschool teacher for more information.

Complete information and registration procedures are available by contacting Jamie Bernhard in Dysart at (319) 476-KIDS or j_bernhard@union.k12.ia.us
